| Local amateur filmmakers compete for top honors and the chance for their films to be showcased on the big screen at the inaugural Steamboat Mountain Film Festival, held November 19th at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel. Participants will compete for cash prizes, including a grand prize of $1,000, plus an offer from Warren Miller Entertainment to be an associate producer of the Steamboat segment in the 2006 Warren Miller movie. In addition to the amateur film contest, the festival will present a special collection of photography and artwork from local photographers and artists. Throughout the evening, all attendees will have the opportunity to win prize-drawings for skis, snowboards, vacation packages and other prizes. All submitted films for the Steamboat Festival will be judged by Mountain Sports Media, the largest snowsports media company in the world that houses SKI and SKIING magazine, and Warren Miller Entertainment. The top three films chosen will be aired on screen at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel during the festival. Tickets are $5 (cash only) and can be purchased at the reception desk on the 4th floor of the Gondola Building from 8-5, M-F beginning Monday, November 15th. Tickets may be purchased at the door the evening of the event. All ticket proceeds will benefit Routt County Search and Rescue. | ||
